» Crown Reduction & Shaping
This is generally carried out on large older trees or trees that are encroaching space close to structures etc. This allows for a healthier more aesthetically pleasing tree. This will also reduce the water uptake of the tree and allow wind to flow more easily through it.
» Crown Lifting & Thinning
Crown lifting entails the removal of the lower branches of the tree This is often necessary when the limbs and lower branches are obstructing the area below an example of this would be a tree overhanging a car park or a public footpath. This improves the appearance of the tree. Thinning is useful when a tree is in danger of been blown over in high winds as it allows the wind to penetrate more freely the better circulation of light and air make creates a better structure and can help prevent tree pests.
» Dead-Wooding
Removal of dead or damaged branches which could cause damage or injury should they fall off. This allows the remaining parts of the tree to flourish.
» Pollarding
Pollarding is a method of pruning that keeps trees and shrubs smaller than they would naturally grow. It prevents a tree or shrub from outgrowing its allotted space. Pollarding is useful for preventing street trees from obstructing buildings, signs & street lights etc. The practice of pollarding, involves the removal of all the upper branches of a tree. Pollarded trees tend to live longer because the removal of the crown keeps the tree in a juvenile state.
» Tree Felling
Unfortunately there are times when trees have to be felled perhaps due to death of the tree or the danger of structural damage. Also if a tree becomes infected with a disease it may be necessary to remove it to prevent the infection spreading to neighboring trees. Often this work tends to be complicated work due to tight surroundings so the tree must be climbed & dismantled carefully in small manageable sections to endure a smooth operation.
» Hedge & Shrub Trimming
A trimmed neat hedge or shrub is not only aesthetically pleasing but it promotes a bush growth.
» Stump Grinding
Once a tree has been felled the remaining stump can often be treated to prevent re-growth. In some circumstances however it may be necessary for the stump to be removed completely. We operate stump grinding equipment that allows us to remove a stump and the root system entirely. Supplementary quotations for this service are available on request.
» Site Clearance
We have the capabilities to and the equipment to allow us to undertake site clearance work. The remaining wood can be cut to a manageable size and left on site for the customers own use or taken away if requested.
» Wood Chipping
We operate wood chipping equipment which allows us to get rid of branches and tree tops left after the timber is harvested from a site. This can be taken away or left behind as per the wishes of the customer. Wood chip makes excellent mulch for trees and shrubs and a three inch layer is all you need to prevent the growth of weeds and grass around the base of a tree or a flower bed. It also conserves moisture prevents erosion and moderates the soil temperature. They are also longer lasting than some other mulch materials Loads of wood chip can be supplied on request.
